Job Specifics
Duties Description This Office Assistant 1- Keyboarding (OA1), position is located at NYSDEC Region 1, Division of Water (DOW), Stony Brook. The OA1 will be responsible for digitizing DOW files, data entry, filing, file organization and assisting with file preparation for Freedom of Information Law Requests and subpoenas. The OA1 may also assist with general office support including answering phones, distributing mail and other tasks as assigned.
All duties require representing the Department in a professional manner, keeping senior staff apprised of accomplishments and emerging issues. Candidate must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. They must be able to complete varied computer tasks; and participate in various team tasks.
Minimum Qualifications There are no minimum education or experience requirements for this title. However, prior to being considered for appointment, you will be required to pass a keyboarding test that demonstrates your ability to enter text at a rate of at least 30 words per minute with at least 96% accuracy.
Additional Comments This is a hourly appointment currently funded through 3/31/2026, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date.
